with 1:15 pre-concert forum
Don’t miss this rare and bittersweet opportunity to experience one of the world’s most celebrated string quartets in one of their final performances before retirement. For over four decades, Cuarteto Latinoamericano has captivated audiences worldwide with their passionate interpretations and dedication to the string quartet music of Latin America.
Founded in Mexico in 1982, the Cuarteto has toured extensively around the world, and premiered over a hundred works written for them. Winners of two Latin Grammy Award for Best Classical Album, they also have been awarded with the prestigious Diapason d’Or, have been recognized with the Mexican Music Critics Association Award, and have received three “Most Adventurous Programming” Awards from Chamber Music America/ASCAP.
It is exceptionally rare for a string quartet to perform together for over 40 years without any changes in personnel. The Cuarteto Latinoamericano stands out in this regard, having maintained the same lineup since its inception in 1982: brothers Saúl, Arón, and Álvaro Bitrán, along with violist Javier Montiel.
This performance is part of their farewell season—an extraordinary moment in chamber music history.
