Frisson is a dynamic chamber ensemble based in New York City, celebrated for its vibrant performances and innovative programming. Under the artistic direction of oboist Thomas Gallant, the group features a rotating roster of exceptional young musicians, many of whom are alumni of prestigious institutions like Juilliard, Yale, and the Manhattan School of Music .

The ensemble's name, "Frisson," meaning "a shiver or thrill" in French, encapsulates their mission to deliver exhilarating musical experiences. Their repertoire spans a wide range, from classical masterworks to contemporary compositions, often arranged for unique instrument combinations. Frisson's flexible ensemble structure allows them to perform in various configurations, including quintets, sextets, nonets, and even a small chamber orchestra .

They will include Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" narrated by our production manager Micah Cone, who is also a noted local actor, voted the "Best Local Performer" of 2024! Frisson will perform for our Third Grade "Just for You" concerts on Monday, March 16.
