American pianist-composer, Michael Stephen Brown, is joined by fellow Avery Fischer Career Grant winner, violinist Kristin Lee, in a program that journeys through American chamber music – from the virtuosic brilliance of Fritz Kreisler, the rhythmic energy of John Adams, and the nostalgic warmth of Charles Ives to the mystical depth of Ernest Bloch, and more.

A 2025 MacDowell Fellow and 2024 Yaddo Artist, Brown performs recitals and concertos worldwide and is commissioned by leading orchestras, soloists, and chamber music organizations. His honors include the 2026 Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award, an Emerging Artist Award from Lincoln Center, and an Avery Fisher Career Grant. He has appeared as soloist with the Seattle, Phoenix, North Carolina, Albany, and Maryland Symphonies, as well as the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra, and has given recitals at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Louvre, Wigmore Hall, and Beethoven-Haus Bonn. A frequent artist with CMS Lincoln Center, he tours internationally in a duo with longtime musical partner Nicholas Canellakis and collaborates regularly with Pinchas Zukerman, Amanda Forsyth, Arnaud Sussmann, and, as in this case, Kristin Lee.

Kristin Lee is a violinist of remarkable versatility and impeccable technique who enjoys a vibrant career as a soloist, chamber musician, educator, and artistic director. “Her technique is flawless, and she has a sense of melodic shaping that reflects an artistic maturity,” writes the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and The Strad reports, “She seems entirely comfortable with stylistic diversity, which is one criterion that separates the run-of-the-mill instrumentalists from true artists.” She has performed on the world’s finest concert stages, including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, the Kennedy Center, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Steinway Hall’s Salon de Virtuosi, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, the Ravinia Festival, Philadelphia’s World Cafe Live, (Le) Poisson Rouge in New York, the Louvre Museum in Paris, Washington, D.C.’s Phillips Collection, and Korea’s Kumho Art Gallery.
